DESICCATOR CABINETS / DRY BOXES
Desiccator cabinets provide a clean, dry environment for critical low RH% cleanroom as well as assembly component storage applications. Each compartment has a spring-loaded door latch and gasket for an air-tight seal. Continuous stainless steel hinge provides maximum support for chamber doors. In addition, these desiccator cabinets feature our unique Ultra Nitro-Flow System. This feature includes cutouts in the walls and floors of each chamber for even nitrogen distribution throughout multiple chamber desiccators. Finally, the perforated plenum chamber purges nitrogen into all compartments at an even rate. Equally important, these desiccators feature a removable back plenum wall for easy maintenance.
Available in acrylic, static dissipative acrylic, and stainless steel.

When choosing a desiccator, it’s important to understand the differences between clear acrylic, static dissipative acrylic, and stainless steel options. Clear acrylic desiccators are suitable for non-ESD sensitive storage and can be used in cleanrooms where humidity helps discharge static buildup; however, they require grounding and are not ideal for critical ESD environments. Static dissipative acrylic desiccators, on the other hand, offer full ESD protection with a surface resistivity of 10⁶–10⁸ ohms/sq. and cannot be tribocharged when grounded, making them ideal for storing sensitive components. While clear acrylic can be an economical option with added grounding and protective packaging, it remains vulnerable to static and is not recommended for high-risk ESD areas. Stainless steel desiccators provide the highest durability, weight capacity, and ESD safety, making them suitable for both cleanroom and assembly use, while also meeting strict insurance standards.

Desiccator Diagrams – Clear or Static Dissipative?
Knowing the Difference Between Clear Acrylic & Static Dissipative Acrylic Materials before you Choose
Clear Acrylic
Clear acrylic desiccators are recommended for non-electro-static (ESD) sensitive storage applications. Often these desiccators are utilized in cleanroom storage of wafers, reticles, photomask, as well as other contents that are less susceptible to ESD discharge events. Although acrylic desiccators may attain a highly charged condition, for the most part it can be mitigated with the proper precautions. Cleanrooms routinely maintain 45/55% relative humidity control, under those circumstances a layer of moisture accumulates on exposed surfaces. As a result, this conductive layer facilitates discharging the static electricity to ground. Grounding is also recommended on acrylic desiccators to accelerate these discharges.
ESD Safe Static Dissiaptive
Static dissipative acrylic desiccators provide complete electrostatic discharge protection for ESD sensitive components. Our static dissipative acrylic material offers a surface resistivity of 106-108 Ohms/sq. and cannot be tribocharged when properly grounded. Stainless steel shelves, plates, shelf racks, door latches, and hinges are commonly grounded to the desiccator and wire connect to hard ground. Stainless steel plates are required for enhanced grounding and provide protection from surface abrasion when you use the floor of the compartment as an additional shelf.
Although static dissipative acrylic desiccators are recommended for electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitive storage applications, as shown above clear acrylic desiccators may be utilized as an economic alternative in certain applications. In order to use a clear acrylic desiccator to store ESD sensitive components you must include stainless steel shelves and plates with our grounding option. Furthermore, the components must be stored in ESD safe storage bags, totes, or other type of protective packaging. Clear acrylic desiccators remain susceptible on the acrylic material surface to static charging and for this reason, are not recommended in critical ESD assembly locations.
In conclusion, the choice of clear or static dissipative acrylic depends ultimately on the type of components you wish to store.
Stainless Steel Desiccator Cabinets
Stainless steel desiccators provide clean, high-density storage for both cleanroom and assembly applications. Compared to acrylic desiccators, stainless steel ultimately provides maximum weight capacity and longer durability. Constructed of heavy-duty conductive stainless steel in addition to wire grounding as an option. Stainless steel desiccators meet stricter insurance requirements as well as providing part storage privacy.
